Shekou Ferry Terminal plays an important role in Shenzhen transportation. Shenzhen is a fishing village as we all know. It is close to the sea with convenient transportation in the sea. The Shekou Ferry is located at the end of Nan Hai Boulevard and the southern tip of Shekou. The ferry has regular ferry service to Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai.

Many people may not know that it is actually very fast to travel from Shenzhen to Hongkong Airport from the Shekou Ferry Terminal in Shenzhen. You can also get to Shenzhen from other neighbour cities mentioned above through the sea.

Shenzhen Shekou Ferry

Upon arrival at the Shekou Ferry terminal there you can go to the taxi stand line in front of the terminal and wait at the stand for a taxi. Note that the official taxi in Shenzhen downtown are in red color. You can also go to the metro station nearby. It is just outside of the main entrance to the Shekou Ferry. You can go to many different areas and districts in Shenzhen by subway. Except metro and taxi, you can also take a bus. There is a bus station in front of the Shekou Ferry. There will be gypsy drivers around the Shekou Ferry area. It is not recommended though, as they are most likely to charge you higher than other transportation methods.

Shenzhen East Railway Station, is the former “Buji Railway Station” at Buji town in Longgang district. Shenzhen East Train Station was first built in 1911, until now it has 102 years history.

The East Station in Buji Longgang has three ticket halls and a waiting hall covering an area of 7,100 square meters.

The East Railway Station of Shenzhen mainly focuses on middle and long distance trains operation. Currently travelers can buy tickets for trains from the new east station to 10 other cities in China such as Taizhou, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuchang, Nanning, Huaihua, Changde, Jinan and Kunming.

Shenzhen’s railway authority reminded passengers that some trains formerly handled by Shenzhen Railway Station or Shenzhen West Railway Station will switch to East Station.

Car plate is an interesting topic. What do the Chinese characters, numbers and colors mean in a Shenzhen car plate?

The Characters, Letters and Numbers of Shenzhen Car Plate

For example, 粤B  A12B1, you will find all Shenzhen cars plate start with a Chinese character 粤 (Yuè in Chinese pinyin), then a capital letter B. Typical Shenzhen car plate ends with 5 letters and numbers.

The first Chinese Character 粤, also called one-character provincial abbreviation, refers to Guangdong province. Each province has its unique Chinese character at the begging of a car plate, 京 refers to Beijing, 沪 means Shanghai.

The second character, which is an English letter, represents the city of the province. In Guangdong province, A means Guangzhou, B means Shenzhen, C means Zhuhai, D means Shantou, etc.

The rest 5 characters are a mix of numbers and English letters.

 

The colors of Car plate in Shenzhen

The most common color is blue. It means it is small or middle sized car. For big cars, like buses, or trunks, it is in yellow. Cars in Shenzhen with black car plates, means the car is owned by a foreigner or foreign company. Standard Hong Kong plate is yellow, however the Guangdong border crossing car will have a black plate displayed on the yellow plate. Licence plates for China’s Police Service, Armed Police Force, and Military are in a white background, with red and black text.
