My friend Zhu is a security guard in Futian Shenzhen. Last night when he was patrolling at Shangsha village area, he found some suspect. He got near and asked some questions. Suddenly the young man ran away trying to escape. Zhu chased after the suspect, after several blocks chasing, the men were caught and sent to local police station. It has been proved that the suspect young man had just robbed a small shop that night, two mobile phones and some caches that robber got had been handed over to the police.

Robbery Prostitute Security and Shenzhen

Most of the security guards in Shenzhen are from non-governmental organizations. They are not the so called public servant, nor CPC members. The government would prefer to support some unofficial unities or organizations to handle these tough things. There could be many reasons behind this in China. Its advantages are obvious, especially in China.

The police officer promised my friend Zhu a big award the next month. Normally the government will give the awardee some money as reward for such criminal cases in Shenzhen.

There are a lot of prostitutes in Shenzhen. I was told by my friend. He said that it is one of their income channels. It is because prostitutes need protection. However some prostitutes choose to work with robbers in Shenzhen to trick, blackmail, rob people. Prostitutes in Shenzhen could be the bait for robbery. So be aware of that. Keep away from those femal strangers and do not follow them into private premises. Bear in mind, no one would easily have sex with you without money.

Shenzhen is such a city, without money you are nothing.

Famous unfinished buildings in Shenzhen

New Era Mansion(新世纪大厦)

It is located just besides famous Shennan Road, opposite to the famous Luohu Business Center (or Golden Business Center). This New Era Mansion has 45 floors, twin-towers, it is one of the most luxury unfinished buildings in Shenzhen. The gold shiny external glasses are said to costs USD 800 each piece. The building project started in 1993, but the construction stopped in 1998 because of the developer ran out of money. It has been there almost close to 20 years, yet is still unfinished.

Jin Li Hua Mansion(金利华大厦)
It is just behind the South Power Grid building, opposite to Diwang Building(also known as the Shun Hing Square). Di Wang Building is currently the tallest building in Shenzhen. It had been started construction in late 90s, and had been all sold out to buyers. The developer escaped with the money, and is still no where to be found.

New World Mansion(新世界大厦)
New World Mansion is also located in Luohu district as above two projects. The construction began in 1993, ended in 1996. At that time, the Diwang Building did not exist. The developers wanted to build it as the biggest commercial property in Shenzhen. In 1996 or around, one of the developers was bankrupted, the lack of funds caused a serial of unresolved economic disputes thus the abandon property came to be.

What is even worse about this New World Mansion is that some illegal owners are running their illegal business there.

There are still many more unfinished buildings in Shenzhen, this has became a serious problem in Shenzhen.

Weather of Shenzhen – Introduction of Shenzhen weather

Shenzhen enjoys subtropical weather year round. The Shenzhen city is situated in the subtropical part of China. It has a warm, monsoon-influenced and a bit humid climate, long but not overly hot summers and short but relatively warm winters with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures, this is the weather of Shenzhen. Shenzhen weather is pleasant overall.

Weather and Climate of Shenzhen – Four season of Shenzhen

Shenzhen Spring begins somewhat dry, but rainfall begins to increase rapidly in April. The rainy season can last as long as October.

The summers of Shenzhen are hot and long, it is a significant feature of Shenzhen weather. The monsoon reaches its peak intensity in the summer months. Shenzhen also experiences conditions very humid, hot but moderated. The highest temperature can go above to around 35 °C .

I used to live in Shekou in 2006, the summer that year was really hot. My apartment was on the top floor and I had to go to work at the port of Shekou that gives much exposure to the sunshine. At summer nights, the temperatures remain around 26 degree with high humidity. Thus at late afternoon, I would go to seashore to enjoy the cool breeze from the sea which gave much relief of the heat. Sea World at Shekou is a nice place to hang out at summer nights. It rains quite a lot in summers of Shenzhen.

Typhoons strike Shenzhen often at summer times, especially this year in 2010. Rainfalls are concentrated from May to September. The rainy season in Shenzhen may start at earlier at April or last as longer as October. Also in 2006, heavy rains and typhoons were common as far as I can remember.

It seems to me that autumns of Shenzhen are short. The latter portion of autumns is dry. I feel that Shenzhen has two seasons that are long, the summers are the longest, winters seconded, both springs and winters in Shenzhen are short.

Winters in Shenzhen are not as cool as expected. The weather of Shenzhen in winters is mild and relatively dry, however it is not cold. I guess it is partially because of the nearby South China Sea. You can not see any snows in winter here, frost is very rare. I have been living in Shenzhen for several years and I did not see any snow or frost so far.

I have added a Shenzhen Weather link to China Meteorological Administration on my Shenzhen blog (www.szcchina.com/blog). When there are any business meetings or appointments which need to go out, I would like to check weather frequently in case of unexpected rains in summer. However the weather report of Shenzhen seems not reliable. Sometimes when I make a phone call from Long Gang district to my friend in Nanshan, we were experiencing different weathers.

Shenzhen weather

You may say it is because of the unique Shenzhen geography as it is narrow and very wide. It is a big span across Shenzhen from Nanshan to Longgang. You need to monitor the local news, newspapers, TV weather forecast, etc, for the latest updates and safety precautions as the weather in Shenzhen changes fast. However the differences of weather in different areas and districts of Shenzhen makes people hard to follow any weather reports or safety precautions from local government.

From October till March of the next year, the weather of Shenzhen is dry. You do not need to worry about the bother of rains in these months. Long but not overly hot summers and short but relatively warm winters make Shenzhen the ideal tourist destination in any season.

I have a friend who comes from New Zealand. He used to teach English in Hai Nan Univercity in HaiKou City, the capital city of Hai Nan Province. He also went to Beijing for couple of years. He came to Shenzhen this summer in 2010 for the first time, and he told me that Shenzhen has the lovable weather. It is a coastal city which has plentiful sunshine, yet not very hot, it is going to be a most popular city in China especially for visitors.

Shenzhen bonsai, flower and plants trade show

Due to its pleasant weather, Shenzhen is a city of fresh flowers all the year around. Shenzhen citizens should know that there are Grand bonsai, flowers and plants trade shows each year here in Shenzhen.

Does anyone know who has the little farming area in the downtown near Shenzhen Book City Nanshan?

It is excellent to have this in such a busy bussiness area (CBD in Nanshan disctrict). The small garden is in an open lot between Nanshan Book City Shenzhen and Coastal City Nanshan. Dido has a MTV shows a downtown small house which had been dismantled by the city government authority. They are sort of similar. It is peculiar and amazing to see in such a crowded area in Shenzhen with a small garden fully of vegetables and fruits there. There are egg plants, long beans, tomotos, bananas, balsam pear(also known as bitter gourd or bitter melon), little chili, etc. Bellow are some pictures, just like it.
